Ladies, how many times have you found yourself unfulfilled, unhappy and just plain jilted? Loving a man that clearly doesn’t love you back, giving up the goodies and rewarding someone that you can’t even call on when you need him, let alone count on a movie and a value meal from McDonald’s?
All the while you’re asking God for someone to love you, when you already have someone who does, but he’s just an average Joe?
Consider this scenario.
You’re out late at night. Perhaps you had a craving for some strawberry shortcake and so you drive to the 24-hour grocery store to satisfy your sweet tooth. After spending five of your last ten dollars you hop into your ride, content because tomorrow is payday and you proceed to drive off with your bag of delight, but the car does not start!
You try again and again with no luck and in between time you glance at your watch. It is after 1 o’clock in the morning and you know that almost everyone is asleep. You ponder over what to do next, as you scan the practically empty parking lot.
After sitting in your car for a few moments and saying a prayer to God, you realize you need help.
If you’re like me you’ve had limited friends and you haven’t been close to your family for some time. Nonetheless, you call a couple of your closest relatives but they don’t answer. But WAIT!
There’s this guy you’ve been dealing with name Tyrell and you’ve grown quite fond of him. He’s tall and handsome and his skin his flawless! Tyrell has a swagger about him that makes your heart skip a beat each time you think about it. He’s charming and a true hunk!
You’ve had sex with him a few times he has come over and wouldn’t dream of doing anybody else because the sex was phenomenal! You wish you could have more with him but you understand that he’s not the type to be rushed. Anyhow, you call Tyrell but he doesn’t answer either. You leave an urgent message and you walk the parking lot asking a couple non-threatening men if they have jumper cables. They don’t, but one asks if you would like for him to call you a cab. You respectfully decline, knowing you probably don’t have enough cash to pay a taxi and instead, you call Tyrell again. Hoping it will wake him up. This time your call goes straight to voicemail leaving you to wonder if he turned off his phone. Now it’s after 2 am and that strawberry shortcake on the front seat doesn’t look nearly as delicious as it use to. You almost tear up until you realize that there was someone you didn’t think to call…Charlie.
Charlie is a guy you met 2 years ago. He was never your type but you decided to keep him around for the benefits. You see, Charlie is a nerd, lame…what some call the average Joe. There is nothing good that stands out about him other than he’s loyal to you and even though he doesn’t say the right words or make your heart beat in triple time, you know that Charlie worships the ground you walk on. He even taped your solo at the church. He’s too soft, a pushover, too passive not to mention he has that mild skin disorder, none of which is flattering on a man. But you call him and of course he’ll answer because he has no one else to talk to really. You tell him your situation and ask if he’ll come to help. He says he’s already on the way.
