Sieve is nothing but the separation. It is a method to separate your desirable things from the unwanted things. It is also known as Sifter. This separation is done by a woven screen. Sometimes net is used as this woven. But sometimes mesh is used to separate the wanted materials from the unwanted materials. So now we can give sieve definition.  Sieve is nothing but a process of separating the materials which is useful to you from the undesirable elements. There is a new kind of sieve and that is strainer. It is one of the processes which is used for separating solid substance from liquid substance. We often use the word sift which comes from the word sieve.

Sieving is nothing but a very simple process. The process is also very convenient. It is also the method to separate the particles considering its size. The meaning of it is, it separates the particles which is big in size from the material which is small in size. There is a process by which we can shift the floor. This machine has some small holes. The small holes only allow the particles which is small in size. It can not allow the particle which is large in size. These machines have different types of holes. You can use any of these holes as you need. In this note you have learned that separating is sieving. But all the separating is not considered as sieving. Sieving definition is some what different. I can give you an example. The separation of the leaves of tee plants is not considered as sieving.

Now I am going to tell you about another type of separator. This separator is extra ordinary because it is used by mechanical energy. The name of this separator is gyratory separators. The machine has another name and the name is screening machines. It is not used in every purpose. The main purpose to use this machine is to separate the small particle such as powder. This machine needs extra energy because it acts upon the powder. That is why the machine uses the mechanical energy. The powder is not the simple powder. The powder should be dry and it should be bulk powder. You have to move the machine both in vertical and horizontal direction. Then the machine can give its best effort. There are also many other industrial purposes in which sieving can be used. Actually it is used to pure the product.
