Time is of the essence but it should not control your life.
Slow down by delighting in the law of the Lord and continuously and unceasingly meditating in His law day and night and surely you will live. Take time to meditate and think of what is more important in this fast pacing life.
Many people nowadays, instead of making life valuable and worthwhile by slowing down and enjoying every bit of it, actually accelerates it by running fast with time. In their quest for greater productivity and efficiency, they over-schedule their days, then rush things up, then wonder why the joy of living eludes them. As if time is always after them.
Do not be a slave of time. Let it pass, for God has set time for everything. No matter what you do, if it is not God’s will, it will not happen. Let the Holy Spirit take the steer. Just be submissive to what God can do for you.
Some may think or raise an eyebrow, but, I bet you, no amount of wealth can satisfy a life that keeps on, without unnecessarily rushing up. In fact, slowing down will have a positive effect in our lives not only at work but also at home. Rushing can only blur our judgments and cause us to overlook important things and valuable people.
Do not be impatient but welcome the red traffic lights by using the waiting time to valuable thinking and to meditate for there is no hint of a frenzied pace. Enjoy the blessings of God instead of worrying, thinking and acting like those who rarely consider spiritual matters. The end result will be a fruitful life and a well-nourished soul. If old age comes, you have nothing to regret.
As it is written, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on God, because he trusts in God”. Try to think of it. Hess said, “If you’re working hard to make a living, never taking time to smell the roses. Now is the time to heed the Bible’s wisdom: Find true joy before your life’s day closes.”
