as i find myself dwindling to stay awake i wonder to myself, why do we sleep? i never really got an answer until i found myself up for three days straight. on the third day i found myself unfocused, off alert, violent and confused, all mild not serious. although on the third day i set a friend on fire and said friend is still trying to press charges. i find on days when i get 11 hours of sleep i feel the same as when i spent 3 hours asleep. what dictates how much sleep you need? does a lack of sleep finesse the mind and body? i remember reading a story of a man who stayed up well over a week and apparently went insane, probably stir crazy but still insane none the less. does a lack of sleep not allow your body to regulate certain chemicals or does the mind naturally slow down after prolonged use, such as a car or how a fire dies out? i was once told that sleep was for dead people by about the most ignorant and mentally slow people i have ever met. still i could not get sleep while with this person because he kept himself entertained, causing him not to become bored, then go stir crazy like the man in the story. although this guy was still ape shit crazy, i was over at his house one night because we were going to rocky ridge the next morning and he played with his fecal matter. i then saw that the more you sleep, like my best friend, happening to be an intellectual, you are more calmed, unnerved and able to handle a situation better, or if your like my other friend and never sleep, you have the possibility of flying over the coo coos nest and playing with feces, if you have any theories of your own, please reply, thank you.
