A comparison of the pros and cons of both city and town living.

Is the grass always greener on the other side? If you have ever lived in a small town then you know the saying very well “There’s NOTHING to do”. When I was younger I always dreamt on the “real world” as my family would call it. I know what you are thinking everywhere is the real world. Not true if you are from a small town whether it be in the sticks, on an island, anywhere you are isolated you are not in the real world. Small town folk may make up a good portion of the world they are the back bone of our society. If you are from a small town you know that it is a place where people wave (even if they don’t know you), people ask you how you are, and everyone knows who you are and vice verse. Your business isn’t your business it is the business of everyone in the community which could be good OR bad how ever you look at it. If you live in a small town and a family member becomes ill, or injured, or even worse then you know that not just your close friends will be there for support. Everyone will be there, bringing food, cards, flowers, praying, doing what ever then can. But if you in some trouble, because of drugs, alcohol, violence, what ever it may be they ALL know as well, so instead of compassion from the town you will more or less be frowned opinion and talked about every time you go to the gas station, or grocery store. People think that if you are from a small town then you are safe from drugs, BUT what a lot of people don’t know is that drugs as well as alcohol attracts people at a younger age for the most part in a small town. I know crazy, but true this is because there is not a whole lot to do. Sure there is camp fires, hiking, jogging, sports activities, school activities, but a lot of the stuff available is more a think you would do on summer vacation if you were from the city then what you want to do ALL the time. City life has its pros and cons as well. Cites have convenience of public transit, it has bars, mini golf, concerts, you name it you will find it. But even with so much to do and see it isn’t that great either. Its a fast passed society, no time to sit under the stars (if you could see any). People aren’t near as friendly, they don’t like to ask you how you are, they don’t wave, they don’t even look at you as you pass them. From what I gather they think that by keeping to themselves they can avoid any kind of disagreement, they are scared to show compassion because of the violence in the area. Personally when I am in the city I want to be at home chilling at the lake, or going for a bike ride, but when I’m home I want to be back in the city shopping or checking out the new bar in town. I don’t think anyone will ever like where they are where ever they will be something else will always seem more appealing.
