I was just about to turn and go to bed when I began to hear Elisabeth’s voice again. Not from behind me like before, but all around me. Like I was in a tunnel and there was someone at the other end trying to talk to me, it just sounded hollow. My heart began to race out of control. I could feel it pounding throughout my entire body, like it would burst through my chest given the chance. Voices quiet… voices loud.
“Johny… I’m still here… I’m still waiting.”
“Oh my god please stop!” I whispered with eyes closed.
“Its too late for you, Johny… Its too late for all of you!” She began to laugh an evil laugh that sent chills, shivering down my spine.
“I’m coming for you, Johny… I’m going to get you… Johny!”
I opened my eyes and there, Elisibeth stood, eyes black as the night sky and blood still trickling down her cheeks like tears. At first she didn’t say anything and neither did I. I was too scared to say anything.
“I told you I was coming, Johny.” She finally said.
It was quiet for a few seconds, no voice, quiet or loud.
“What do you want from me?” I stuttered.
“I want you to die, Johny. Just like I did, before I got to say good bye to her. Before I got to tell her I was sorry! Before I got to tell her… I loved her! I want you to suffer the way she had suffered… the way I had to suffer for all these years.”
“Why me? Why my family?” I stuttered once again.
“your family will miss you… I know… They will get over your death soon enough. As for you, you will never know when I am going to come for you. It could be any where in this house, at any time. I will get you!” With that she faded away, voices and all… gone.
Wondering why Elisibeth never gave me an answer to my question, I stood there a while. My heart rate slowed to almost normal and I decided that it was time I got to bed. Not that I was going to sleep, knowing that there is someone, I mean, something, that wants me dead for some unforeseen reason that she wouldn’t even tell me. I mean damn, who could sleep after all that. But I figured it was best I try.
