Patience and unconditional love, is something, we sometime forget!

We forget about the cycle of life, we are born, we live our life; and with time we grow old and must move on. It is all our hope and wishes to leave this life with dignity, but sometimes that may not be the case, as we all know too well. It is that age where we tend to start forgetting things, so we repeat ourselves or cannot hear too well, it is during that phase that we should always remember, that we too must travel that road. We must be patient and kind, to the elderly and wise for they have brought us many years of love and joy.

When sitting among your parents and their friends and family, as you listen to the chatter, of what? Who said that? I never said that? Then they start to argue about who said it, and eventually the topic changes completely, and it seems that all is fine again. That is until someone opens his or her mouth to say something and it all starts again. It during those times that I chuckle to myself and marvel at the human race, and wonder how is it that we come full circle and managed not to lose our minds as we travel through times of our lives.

Starting out as a newborn, unable to do anything for ourselves, to a teenager with a chip on our shoulder thinking our parent are dumb beyond our widest imagination; then as parent ourselves we realize their wisdom, and wonder how they managed to keep their sanity while we were so unbearable.

It is some time after that in which forget how wise and loving our elderly folks are, we forget what they taught us, how they assisted us through the hardships of growing up and for their unconditional love they displayed during our obnoxious teenage years. It is at this moment that we must all remember to have patience with the repeated questions, and the “What?”

It is now our turn to care and love unconditionally, unfortunately sometimes we forget. We forget all they have done for us; but least we forget someday in the distant future that person asking; what? Who? Where? Will be you and I.

You are so right. Our parents have done so much for us, we must take care of them as they get older.

Much easier taking care of our young because we just never think of our parents getting older. Well written reminder.

How true how true. My mother is 90 and she repeats herself a lot. But I remember all she has done for me and I never let on that we’ve had the conversation before. I’m just thankful to still be able to talk to her, that she is still here with us.
