Freedom of choice is doled-out to us Filipinos, no question to that, but sometimes we can no longer choose because we don’t have the available options.

Ham over dried fish, if one has to choose; surely one goes for the ham. Restaurant over street eateries, the former must be flagrantly enticing, not mentioning the comfort of efficient service and centralized ambiance. Teenage working vis-à-vis college education, no eyebrows up and college education will be on pro, but what if it’s that is not one of the options but only between settling to marriage and working.

Everyone would have wanted a copious life, everybody desires to be richer but sometimes situation bids you with bounded options and that is either becoming poor or poorer.

My philosophy teacher once said that the statement “If there’s a will, there’s a way” is only a delusion and no longer depicts the present. Most of the time, regardless of the willingness one person has if not given a chance to ennoble a step a higher, brought about by the current situation one is in, s/he could no longer track what s/he dreamt.

Myriad are still willing to chase their ambitions that unfulfilled dreams have become a spectacle in the country; everybody dreams, have the will, but never got a chance. Choosing is only good when you have the options at hand. Will can be a way to success but can never an assurance to success.

The world might have America, Japan, Canada, Switzerland and more. But, Filipinos has only the Philippines as the option. There might be hundreds of countries in the world, but waking-up with a different race is an illusion.

However, Filipinos are left with one choice, which is to create as many options as possible, by that, even bound in one country, we no longer desire to be somewhere else, because Philippines on its own will already be the best choice.
