A little bit on Speeches.

To start off, when you are making a speech, you will need some ideas! I find, that when your looking for an idea you can never find what you want. But most times, your idea will come when you are doing whatever, lets say riding the bus to work, or reading the paper, or in the shower.

Once, you have your idea, start writing down everything you know about, just literally write down everything you know, then when more information is needed, head over to Wikipedia or Yahoo or something along the lines of that. But always remember to site your work and don’t plagiarise. Plagiarism could cause you to end up with an F. But also siting your work is critical too, because well whoever is marking it needs to know where you got your information from.

And remember to always be creative, when i was back in Grade. 8 one of my friends didn’t do his speech, so when it was his turn to present he went up there, Said he was going to do his speech on Remembrance Day and then 2 seconds later said we will now have 4 minutes of silence. He got an A in creativity, overall i think he got a C- or D+, but being creative is key to capturing your audience’s attention. You don’t want to be standing up there going on about deoderant in a mono-tone voice like your forced to do it and put zero effort and pride in.

I always used to hate speeches and i mean HATE them. To me they were a waste of valuable time, resources, they were a pain to remember and finish, and most of all they were boring. Then later i realised that the only reason my speeches were boring was because I never put any time or effort or pride in so i would usually get like a C+ or B-, but then i actually worked hard and put an effort into it and started getting higher marks.
