How could waving the washcloth change evaporation?
Water can be found in many places on Earth. Most water found on Earth is in the liquid state.Rivers and lakes have liquid water.Liquid water can even be found in the soil.
LIQUID WATER
Pure liquid water is not found in many places. Most water has some dirt, salt, pieces of rock,or other objects in it.Pure water does not have any of these things.Pure water has no taste or odor.
WATER AS SOLID
Water in the soil state can be found in many places.Ive,snow, and frost are water in the soil state. How is water as a solid different from water as a liquid?Liquid water can freeze.Pure water will freeze at 0 degree Celsius.Celsius is a scale people use to measure temperature. Each mark on the scale shows a change of one degree.
Winter is very cold in some places. The outside temperature often reaches 0 degree C.The temperature may even go below the 0 degree C point. You know that pure water freezes at 0 degree C.
A glacier is a large river of ice.The ice forms from packed snow that falls for many, many years. The snow gets very deep.New snow pushes down on the old snow and changes it to ice.The ice then begins to move slowly. One glacier may move a long way.It may cover much land.
Some glaciers flow into the sea.Ice breaks off and floats away.Large blocks of floating glacier ice are called icebergs.Icebergs slowly melt as they float in the ocean.Ocean water is salty.
People in ships must be very careful around icebergs. They know that most of an iceberg is below water.
WATER AS A GAS
Water in the liquid state may change to water in the gas state. We say that the water evaporates.Water as a gas is called water vapour.Water vapor is one gas in the air.Water evaporates from the soil, rivers, lakes, and ocean.Animals breathe water vapour into the air.Plants release water vapor into the air, too.
