Rick Gervais replacing Steve Carell in The Office? More than likely not as Steve Carell puts rumors to rest.  Rick Gervais played David Brent in the original BBC series of The Office. Steve Carell told ABC News Gervais has no interest in replacing him. Steve Carell who plays Michael Scott in the hit NBC series said, “Ricky Gervais? There’s no way,” he said. “He doesn’t want to do that at all.”

Steve went on to say the actor Rick Gervais had contacted him after he made the announcement to leave The Office. Steve said, “He sent me a nice e-mail when I announced I was leaving,” he revealed. “He’s really sweet.”. It would appear suggestions of Rick Gervais replacing Steve Carell in The Office are false.

The last season of The Office (7th season) will premiere on September 23. This will be Steve Carell’s last season with the show. Who will play Michael Scott since Rick Gervais is not replacing Steve Carell in The Office?
