The incident occurred after a car Slater ignored instructions to remain seated, and stood before his belongings in a suitcase. As Slater approached the passenger hit the flight attendant in the head.

Discomfort, Slater sought an apology and instead said passengers Slater. The stewardess continued his tirade, shouting:

“Every passenger who called me a m—f–er, f— you,” Slater ranted over the intercom to the passengers said.

Slater then slid evacuation slides, fled the employee parking lot for a car he had left behind.
