The music of nature.

Stormsong

Dark clouds gather in the evening sky as the freshening wind flutters leaves across the ground. Rain begins to patter on the packed earth and taps on the bark of the trees. The winds start to hum through the branches, increasing in pitch as they gust. Trees groan and creak in discordant rhythm, the whipping boughs thrashing the air. Raindrops join becoming larger and smash into the ground, drumming to an unheard tune. The winds roar, throwing the torrent of water this way and that accompanied by the sound of thunder. As lightning forks across the bruised skies, it crashes through the air. Reaching down it strikes the earth, shaking the ground and the thunder adds a counterpoint as the deluge pounds the earth. As the tempest moves away, the rain lessens once again to a rattle against the trees. The winds blow noisily through the limbs of the battered woods, a last gasp before the percussion of the raindrops patter gently on the ground as before. The gale gone the only sound is the gentle drip of water from the sodden leaves tinkling into silence.
