This is just what I think about how the government manages ethnic diversity =)

The Policy of Multi-racialism promotes equality among races, with no special rights granted to any particular racial or religious group. Thus, everyone has equal opportunities to succeed, regardless of their background. Also, favouring a certain group of people because of their race or religion is prohibited by the Singapore government. Therefore, a sense of national identity as Singaporeans is created since everyone is seen as a valued member of the Singapore society.

Thus, the Policy of Multi-racialism is successful in managing ethnic diversity in Singapore as it ensures that every single Singaporean has an equal chance in succeeding as long as they are good enough and are willing to strive, regardless of their race, language or religion. Thus, Singaporeans will feel more fairly treated and do not face competitions among the races, or religions as they are equally valued in Singapore. Therefore, the people of Singapore will feel a sense of belonging to Singapore as they are not being discriminated in the society and are able to build healthy relationships within the society with other races and religions. Therefore, the Policy of Multi racialism is successful in managing ethnic diversity in Singapore.

The Policy of Bilingualism expected students to learn English and their own Mother Tongue, using English as the language linking the different ethnic groups and using Mother Tongue language to impart moral values and cultural traditions of each race. As English is a non-native language for all the ethnic groups, no one has an advantage over others.

Thus, the Policy of Bilingualism is successful as the use of English improves communication among Singaporeans as no one has an advantage over others since English is a non-native language. With better communication and a common language between the different races and religions, people are able to better understand each other’s religion and culture more and can thus live and bond in harmony with other races and religions and put aside their differences. Also, although the people are expected to learn a non-native language, they are still allowed to learn their own Mother Tongue Language, which could allow them to pass on their own cultural traditions. Thus, the culture of all races and religions are equally respected so that nobody feels discriminated due to their race or religion. Therefore, the people are satisfied as they are fairly treated in the society. Therefore, the Policy of Bilingualism is successful in managing ethnic diversity in Singapore as it allows better communication between the people through the use of English, and treats every race and religion with equal respect so that the people feel fairly treated and are willing to live in harmony among one another.
