What will YOU do with the longest summer of your life?
As an almost-veteran of the IB, I have been thinking about summer a lot lately, and, as with every summer, have compiled a list of things I want to do with this unsullied stretch of time.
The difference here is that the stretch is a good four months long.
Here, therefore is my new and improved Things-To-Do-When-I-Finally-Have-Time-For-A-Life-Again list. I hope it inspires you, but am resigned to the fact that you will most probably just laugh.
1) Have a movie marathon. For a fortnight. Is this excessive? I don’t think so…it is, after all, a culmination of all the films I have wanted to watch since September 2009. Top of my list are “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, “American Beauty”, “Pretty in Pink” and “Brick Lane”. Yes, I am a sentimental twat.
2) Have a television marathon for a further fortnight. Before you say anything, I am planning food and exercise breaks.
3) Read: Economics books, so that I’m acceptably swotted up when I start at university next year, but also just literature, the first love of my life. I’m especially looking forward to “The Bell Jar”; Plath was a strange little woman.
4) Jet off to Spain for a girly piss-up lesson in sophistication. We are staying in a Hostel which has hammocks. Jizz.
5) Go to a final warehouse rave, the little hipster that I am. I miss my warehouse raves; the bloke that organised them seems to have turned depressingly legit.
6) Eat a fried mars bar. This has now been on my summer list for three years, and I’m frankly sick the sight of it; all the more motivation to do it, methinks.
7) Get a job filing somewhere. Because I adore filing.
8) Go on a pub crawl….in Ireland. Oh yes. Gerard Butler, here we come (and it is completely irrelevant that he’s actually Scottish, because everyone who’s seen P.S. I love you knows that he hangs out in the Irish countryside.)
Excellent.
