My view on Global Warming.

I finally decided that i had put off one of my more passionate topics for a while and decided to revisit it in this blog. As I’m sure that you, my educated news watching readers, may have seen various different beliefs about the earth is supposedly moving up a degree or two on God’s big ol’ thermometer. This is a fact that even i cannot think of a way to disagree with, it is happening. However, Is it as Al Gore states, all up to us driving around in our huge 4×4’s with our massive petrol engines? Personally, i say absolutely and categorically not a flipping chance in hell. I mean the first Homo Sapien walked the earth about half a million years ago, which seems like a huge number. But put that into perspective, the earth itself has existed for 4.5 billion years give or take .1, that means that if we put the history of the Earth represented as one year, with the original formation of the earth occurring in January and present day being the end of December; then March would have brought the earliest single celled life, November would have produced multi- cellular organisms and humans would have appeared three days ago. To me that reads in one way, there is no possible way that humans could have altered the earth as drastically as Mr. Ally G states in such a short period of time. The media always specifically states carbon dioxide and our ‘carbon footprint’. Now the issue with this is that carbon dioxide, while not good for the environment in vast quantities, is not nearly as potent as methane, a gas that has been produced for millions of years by all kinds of animals. Methane goes back all the way the the dinosaurs. Now every unit of methane has an effective atmospheric lifetime that is 20 times more than a unit of carbon dioxide. This basically means that methane is 20 times worse for the environment than carbon dioxide. An average cow will put out between 300 and 500 liters of methane a day! Surprisingly, most of this methane comes from belching rather than… the alternative. Many people argue that this methane is all from dairy cows that we are breeding in controlled environments, but this still doesn’t discount the masses of methane that the dinosaurs would have been spewing out throughout their million or so years on this planet. So global warming really is just what i have always believed that it was, a whole load of flatulence. Global Warming is just another problem created for us by ‘the man’ so if i was you i would ignore it and go do something more interesting with your lives, personally I have decided on accountancy.
