An Article by Maui the cat about his efforts to get my television to cooperate with him when it was not receiving satellite signal.
After a long arduous weekend of roaming around the neighbor, I decided to come home and plant my tail down on my favorite couch. Throughout the weekend, I took note of the world around me. The excitement of the garbage eaters as the went about their weekly feedings also seemed so exciting to me. I went down by the wharf later that day admired the large fish that swim so rapidly across the tops of the waters. One day, I will figure out a way to catch one of those large fish. I simply fear that the fish might decide to have me for dinner instead of cooperating so that I may eat it. I also spent the night sleeping under the stars on my favorite chair on the deck. Reality is such a great escape from my indoor domain that I have to oversee daily.
Upon returning home from my two-day vacation, I assumed my standard position upon the couch. The couch being so soft and comfortable was a position that provided with a great advantage. From the couch, I could observe the television to ensure that it would be properly performing its daily duties of providing images that were needed to ensure the house maintain a certain degree of normalcy. Correctly positioned on the couch was the remote that is used to control the television beast and all the wanders that it contains. I promptly placed my paw on the remote to bring the beast to life.
Instead of the typical display of worldly wanders, the screen was blank with only a small box in the lower corner. Being the veracious feline that I am, I hissed at the box detesting its very presence on my beloved television. A cat’s work is never done. “I must resolve this issue”, I realized. This my home and no square box will disobey my command. I pounced up to the box. Diplomacy is always a good option to start with when trying to gain the cooperation of your subordinates. I began with some coercive arguments to try to gain the cooperation of the box. Its silence said enough for me to understand. This box was going to be a hostile foe who would not follow my insisting efforts.
I would have to be more direct with this box. I raised myself up to where it was on the television. I hissed once and smacked the box squarely in its blue face. It realized that I meant business and promptly cooperated. My beloved television returned to its regular self. From this experience, I realized that being diplomatic is always preferred, but sometimes you just have to show that you mean business.
