There is a new year upon us and I believe that we all need to be thankful for what we have and not worry so much about what we don’t have so I will try to begin a series of articles just titled Thankful.

As the new year is here and we all have looked at our past and made resolutions for our future, I am thinking  that we could all use a reminder to be thankful for what we have and concentrate on those things and not the things that we don’t have or that we think that we should have. I will try to write each day for thirty days a Thankful article and hopefully, it will touch your heart and life and you will remember that you have plenty to be thankful for as well.

Day one of my thankful series, I would like to say that I am thankful for my family! I have a husband and two great daughters as well as a stepson that I feel like is one of my own. These 4 people are such an important part of my life and I would do anything to protect them and keep them from danger.

I just read about a 16 year old girl missing from a high school that my cousin’s boys attend. What a horror it must be for her mother to not know where she is or if she is safe. I have a teen daughter and that is a horror that I hope that I may never feel. She has been missing for over 24 hours and now the police are saying that she could be an endangered teen. If this young lady has ran away, I pray that she realizes that her mother will love her and allow her back home at any time. I also pray that if she is a runaway that she doesn’t become victim of the men who prey on young girls on the streets.

I am thankful that my teen daughters have always known that I expect certain things out of them and that they never left that I was not aware of where they were or supposed to be anyway. Being that we homeschooled our oldest and are currently homeschooling our youngest, it seems that they have less of an opportunity to become victim to the bully in the class or the peer pressure that many young people are feeling these days.

Please pray for this family and remember that it could be us who is looking for our child. Please do not take your child or children for grante, you just never know when they will no longer be there! Be thankful for healthy and wise children and be thankful for those who aren’t as healthy – at least they are alive and with you.
