Handicap parking.

We all  seem to want the same thing whenever we enter the mall parking lot.  We all want that grand prize called the closest parking space to our favorite store.  Unfortunately, for most of us, that space is usually one that is reserved for handicapped parking.  Those favorable parking spaces are meant to be used for the elderly or handicapped individuals that need to park close to store entrances.

At one time or another we  have all been guilty of taking that handicapped space as our own.  We all have that time honored excuse ready to use if anyone sees us.  ”I was only going to be in the store for five minutes.  I was coming right back.”

What if a handicapped person was diligently searching the mall parking lot and needed that handicapped space that you took.  Those few precious moments we took in the store are costing that individual an extra burden.  Think about the handicapped people  who have a right to that reserved handicapped space the next time you pull into the mall parking lot.  A few extra steps into the store could mean the world to those disabled people.    Think of them before you take that space just because it was more convenient.  Handicapped citizens everywhere will appreciate the understanding and courtesy you show them.
