A sunny winter day: continuation of my short-novella.

12-14-08:

Paul wakes up to a beautiful Sunday morning.  “Temperature will be upwards of 100 degrees-F in Marina Del Rey” (Paul’s home) the weatherman channel says.

After he fixes breakfast for himself: Paul steps outside his condo in the Marina and is surprised to see how many people are flooding the beach today; today, Sunday, less than two weeks before Christmas and people are not out in the stores shopping but are at the beach instead.

When the evening came, Paul was listening to the news, and they were saying how close to twenty-five million people in California hit the beaches today to swim and relax.

Ray came over that evening to keep Paul company, they had become pretty good friends as a result of the ordeal taking place.

The seas are dark
The sky is blue
The fish are dying
And so are you.

We must remain steadfast
In the midst of all the fear
If we are to survive
We must remain true, to ourselves with no fear.

The oceans will rise,
And destroy the earth they will.
But we must put up a fight,
Or win the aliens will.

“Where did you get this crap from?  Who wrote this silly poem?” Paul asked Ray.  “I found it on the internet, it’s the site known as: The Resistance.  They are going to fight the aliens’ take over of earth.  This group is well aware of what is happening and won’t give up.  I meet one of them already, his name is Daniel; he’s the leader of their group and refuses to give up without a fight.  We must join them, or everyone will die: well, everyone except you that is.  They have plans for you–they like you!” Ray replies to Paul.

It was about 7:00 PM when Ray left Paul’s house.  Suddenly, the skies darkened in such a fashion, that Paul got really scared.  He’d never seeing the skies darkened like this before,–this was really freaky.

It was already 8:00 PM, so he ordered some take out food and ate.

Right around 10:00 PM, it started to rain, little by little it was becoming more intense; Paul loved the rain, so he fell sleep like a baby.
