This article discusses a little bit of my experiences and what I learned from them.

Have you ever wanted to be something so bad that you actually made the attempt and failed miserably?  I have.  I’ll tell you this, around every corner there is another path to be taken and at the end of each of those paths awaits another failure.  It’s just life.  We want to be somebody important and with so many people out there attempting to achieve the same goal, it is like a competition sport.  Speaking of which, I tried cage fighting and I will continue to try at it until I am no longer accepted by a promoter or I am dead.  It is just too enjoyable for me to quit.  I won once and came close five other times.  Only once did I fail completely.  Just because we lose at something doesn’t make us losers, accept to those who view things that way.  I look at losing as just another learning curve and move on.  Now the public doesn’t necessarily perceive things that way.  They see my record in Mixed Martial Arts 1 win and 6 losses and think, “Hey, this guy sucks!”  They don’t understand what goes into the training to even get into the cage or how difficult it is to stand in front of thousands of people with your reputation at risk.  They are just thirsty for blood and that is just life.  Now yes the title of this book is the art of losing, however, the title is deceiving because I know I am not a loser or else I would just give up and never try again.  That’s a true loser.  Someone who fails and never makes another attempt, not someone who pours their heart and soul into it and still gets a loss.  If the world wants to call me a loser then let them.  Then let them get in that cage and experience the hype and pain as the crowd boos you and cheers for the hometown hero, while you get submitted or your face beat in.

My latest endeavor is the attempt to get published.  This is also a competition, because of the amount of creative writers out there and the low volume of willing publishers.  Lets not forget the fact of copyrighting your works.  With every new thing you try, there is going to be a competition to achieve your goals.  Don’t give up.  Learn as much as you can without just leaping in and make sure you do it right.  If you succeed, then it’s a win.  If you fail it’s a loss, but you learn what not to do next time.  If there is no next time then that my friends, is the art of losing.

I don’t give up easy.  Sometimes that’s why I get so stressed and high strung.  For example, I am determined to be published.  I want to have my books published so that I can entertain others and share my creativity with others.  I want to succeed at something without having failed at everything I attempt.  I know that I am multi-talented and that if I apply myself and someone gives me the opportunity, I will succeed.  This is possibly my first non-fiction document and I mean to even publish it to make a point and share my advice and experience to others.  No matter what it is that you dream of doing, find a way if at all possible.  I know that some dreams are unrealistic and unattainable.  There are many dreams for everyone, however, and that is where you begin your process.  What dreams are possible?  That is the first question you answer.  What will it take to make the attempt to reach that goal or fulfill that dream?  Finally, you must ask yourself if it is possible for you to fulfill your dream given finances and lifestyle.  There is your plan, now go and discover your own art of losing, or winning.

A very good entry. Many people have never mastered the art of losing honorably hence all the suffering in the world.
