It is not good that we take people and their kindness towards us for granted. The other day on my street, two friends were slugging it out simply because a kindness rendered to the other had been repaid in bad coin. Tempers rose to the high heavens and when reasoning couldn’t bear any fruits, they decided to settle the matter by physically manhandling one another.

Their friendship has been ruined. Not a few abusive words were traded in the sideline. It was very disgusting.

The bone of contention being that one gave the other help when he needed the help more than any other thing. Only problem became that when time for repayment came, he faltered. Instead of being diplomatic about his inability to pay back what he was owing, he resorted to emotional blackmail.

At the end of the day, not only did he loose a good friend, he equally lost his credibility to borrow money from any of their friends as words have gone round and everyone of their friends came out to soundly rebuke him for his crass irresponsibility.

The crux of the matter is the fact that people have grown weary of being kind to them that are in need because of the attitude of the scenario painted above.  I have always urged people not to stop from being kind as God the father is always kind to us, hence, He spares us our lives everyday and not only that, He feeds us and offer His protection against all manner of destructive things and people around us as we go about our daily struggles to eke a livelihood.

Kindness brings about the notion that one has the life of God inside him/her. It gladdens the heart and keeps you from being needlessly over-worked and stressed. Your heart bubbles whenever you remember that you are fulfilling God’s injunction to reach out and help someone in need via the application of loving your neighbour as yourself.
