Are we a sick society?

Man is Descending Towards the Apes

Man is heading towards the primitive. He did not descend from the apes: he is descending towards the apes. Are we a sick society?

There are no built-in genes, cells, or neurons in the human body for the formation of human values, but a baby is born with the potentials to become a moral being. In fact, only humans become moral-that is, only man can distinguish between good or evil. Given the reality of what we are, we can develop greatness based on our sense of dignity and respect for mankind. This greatness is not found in politics, science, technology and economics.

What encourages the erosion of human values? While science and technology move through quantum leaps and bounds, moral man crawls oh, so slowly, and how many times has he fallen back in his uphill struggle to be moral! It is much easier to be immoral than to be moral. Hedonism like pleasure of the body and love for material wealth is attractive , yet it is deadly.

We have laws but laws may be broken. It is not enough to call upon the sacred text : man will commit sin. A social order that celebrates pornography, obscenity, abortion, drugs, alcoholism, crime and violence is not capable of advancing moral values. The greatest indignities done by man are done by man and are imposed upon himself.

Society , though, is not static. Civilization does not stand still. Man has not lost the creative enterprise of his intellect and his faith in himself and his creator. If we were to lose this faith, we should not be here now in Planet Earth. We only need to recover and rediscover what we lost , our freedom based on human dignity and moral sovereignty. ###

We’ve come a long way. Everything’s part of evolution.

True expression on loss of human dignity in the mad race for power, wealth, etc. But still, some keep on working for the morality to keep it as a yardstick for future.

We begin to lost our values when we take society and prosperity for granted. Nice article. Great sharing.

Interesting discussion, thanks for posting. I can’t help feeling that Western civilisation is in perpetual decline.
