The grass is always greener on the other side.
I personally am neutral in this matter, because even though some people are better than other people. It is only in some, for material and immaterial possessions and goods need to be considered. For example, someone might have a 54-inch plasma flat screen television and a Lamborghini, but might be lonely and be willing to trade all their things for some friends. Or they might have really good things but will not be able to do small tasks like running (in cases of the elderly, crippled, or sick).
Although someone night have all the things that you want and don’t have, usually it’s only because they saved up their money to buy it instead of spending their money on random, trivial things. When this happens, people think that their really rich and that their parents bought it for them because they’re really rich. This is true about the parents buying things for children, but most of the time the parents have average incomes. Another mistake made by the jealous. Then there are the people who live in mansions with nothing but their possessions to keep them occupied. These people might not have any family and would trade anything for any family. Something the people who envy don’t know is that sometimes the people that they envy envy them back.
Then there are the cases of the people worse off them you. Many people note that the grass is greener on the other side, but never notice that on that same side are also suffering people very, much worse off than you or me. Things that we take for granted like electricity, shelter or food, necessities some people in the world don’t have. People like homeless, unemployed, the starving and dying in third-world countries do not have the necessities to live and survive.
Some people are just complaining about nothing. Just because their neighbour’s TV is bigger than theirs, they think that it’s way better than their TV (kind of is), it’s still a TV, same channels. For example, just because their car is faster than your car doesn’t mean that your car is obsolete. Yours will get you from point A to point B. Then there are the immaterial things in life, things like virtues, skills, education, life, happiness… Most people base it off material possessions, like games, cars, phones, laptop and computers, money, PSP (PS3s, XBOX-360s and NDS) and the list goes on, and on.
In the end, the grass is always greener on the other side quote is actually wrong. Although people can have better things than you, people will always be worse off and suffering. Just because someone looks like they’re better than you, doesn’t mean that he or she actually is. Considering everything from material to immaterial possessions, no one will be entirely better than you. You will still be better than whoever you think is better than you one way or another. So you’re never entirely worse off than someone that you envy. In the end, is the grass greener, or redder? …
