This story is based from my true life. It was my first day in college. The setting is I’m in a university attending an orientation and seminar. Please read it!
It was on a wonderful Monday, 8th of June, 2009 that I have to show the real “me” inside. It was my first day in college at a local university here in our place. I remembered waking up with the anticipation in my mind on what’s going to happen. My greatest fear would be that I could not make any friends. As you see, because I am a shy guy since I was a kid. I really don’t want to be alone. But I soon found out things turned out to be not the way I expected it would have been.
As I walked into the portals of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU, for short, is the name of my school), I have a tense feeling; as what most freshmen would have felt. But to my relief, I found some familiar faces, my old set of friends also waiting for others whom they were close to. We’ve had a good time chatting with one another. But good times had to end. It was back to real world; the scary part, making new friends. It is a bit scary not the way like it is in horror stories. You have to worry about your peers whether they will accept or reject you as a friend. Now that’s scary and painful!
With all the might of my dignity and every ounce of courage I had, I seated on an empty chair adjacent to a guy sitting beside my left. I warmly introduced my self. After his turn, we’ve got good time. We instantly became friends! It was the nicest sentiment I have ever felt.
Minutes passed by and another guy sat beside me. He smiled at me and introduced himself and after that, it was “a snap of a finger”. Hey! It gets better every time.
That very short process of acquainting friends went on until the end of our orientation and seminar. It is such a happy moment to reminisce years from now!
