THE HISTORY OF MAGINE (Majj-ein)
The Creation Myth
In the beginning, the world of Magine was a flat, desolate planet. The seas did not exist, only flat, desolate land. The only beings on the planet were the Seven. The Seven had lived on the earth for centuries, and were the ones who discovered magic. They constantly were doing experiments with it. The Seven names’ were Houman, Elvv, Dwerv, Houelvv, Hallvig, Nomen, and Bucart. One day, the Seven who were extremely bored at their daily doldrums, decided to have a magical competition. They decided to spread out all across the earth and for 100 years make magical creations. They would then use these creations in a “show”, if you will, and would see who created the best creations. The Seven agreed, and separated across Magine.
A century passed by, and the Seven met and showed what they had created. Houman had created a race of beings, named the Humans. The strong but versatile Humans averaged about 6 feet tall and seemed to be the natural leaders of Magine. Elvv created a race called the Elf, who tended to be somewhat shorter and slimmer then the Human. Although they were frail looking, they were quick and strong. They had a love for nature. Dwerv had a little problem. He himself was weak with the magic arts, and when he created his race, called the Dwarf, these Dwarves could not use the magical arts. This is what is called the first deficiency. The Dwarves, even though they were non-magical, were a sturdy and hard-working race. Houmelvv decided to take from the creations of Houman and Elvv and mix them, thus coming out with the Half-Elves. They shared the strengths and weaknesses of both races. Hallvig created the quick-footed Halflings. They were masters of stealth, however quite cheery and peaceful. Nomen created the race of Gnomes, who were in ways strangely similar to the Dwarves, who were a race of humor, especially practical jokes.
However, Bucart, went on the different path then the rest of the Seven. He created many races, big and small. This includes the stinging fly, to the giant rat, to the goblins and orcs, to the great dragons and the Tarrasque. This is why the expression, “That place is full of bucar,” is used in reference to monsters. Bucarts monsters were rowdy creatures. Bucart, seeing that his creations were tainted with evil, became enraged and ordered his minions to terminate the other races.
