I started out to write about the news people but my heart took a different direction.

I am sure that like many of you I sat and watched the horror unfold at Fort Hood yesterday.  Is it just me, or do any of you get irritated at the questions some of these news people ask?

Here we are being told that people have just been murdered, and many injured and this loud newsperson keeps asking the same ignorant questions over and over again  The spokes person for Fort Hood has answered his question to the best of his ability and this idiot keeps hammering away at him.  What does he expect the man to do?  All of a sudden say,   “Oh, no, Wolfe, I’m sorry, I’ve been lying to you all along.  This is what really happened.”

I got so irritated with the man I had to get up and leave the room.  My husband wanted to watch that particular news channel so it was either that or suffer in silence, which I just can’t do.  I went upstairs and watched a different channel.  There, I saw a seasoned anchor person asking intelligent questions, having guest people on who could offer intelligent insights into what it is like, now, in our military.  What our troops are going through being deployed over and over again, and coming home to feel like we, their fellow Americans, do not appreciate the sacrifices they are making.

One, in particular, made me think very hard about what our service people are going through.  He is a retired General and he spoke very passionately about “his” troops.  I could tell that he cares very much for them and for what is taking place in the military life now.  There is an increase in the number of suicides; marriages are breaking up right and left; our soldiers are dying and we, the average Americans are going about our business here at home acting like there is not a war going on.  We are busy with our own lives and continue to go to baseball games, football games, and all the normal things we do and when confronted by someone from the military it is almost like they make us feel guilty.  If they don’t, then they should.

Well done Mighty Quinn, I can’t help but feel sad when I see people my child’s age sent of to slaughter. Every day someone else’s child comes home in a box to Camp Pendleton.

I agree with every word. I thought about writing an article about Fort Hood yesterday but I thought there would be many more written.I was surprised to see yours is the only one, or the only one I found. I was realy shaken up when I heard the news. My grandson and his wife just left Fort Hood. The shootings really got to me.And I’m thinking about the other military bases. I have another grandson in Savannah packing to go to Afhganistan. I can just imagine what these families are going through. I was also horrified at the reporters questions. They were just plain stupid. I too, was impressed with the retired General. It’s hard to take it all in.

I wouldn’t have known about this if you hadn’t written about it. It’s not even at yahoo’s top stories!
    Thanks for sharing.

Like many Americans, no one is willing to do the job, but yet we judge those who step up to the plate willing to make the sacrifice. We forget that the ones who, are in the forefront fighting the battles for us are humans as well, we feel, we have conscious and we hurt too. We are the forgotten ones, we are humans and we continue to fight for freedom for all whether here at home or abroad, we are YOU. Please support US, we we are your fathers, mothers, son sand daughters…

Very well said, some of these reporters are like vulture’s and have no remorse for what these people are going through. Our men and women that are out there serving our country should not only be recognized when someone dies or when their is a special event on tv. But we should all be thankful and recognize what they do more often than none. And pray that their will be peace and they will be able to come home to their families.
I do thank them for what they do also.
Nice story Monty, you couldn’t of said it better.
