Why it’s great being a sports fan!

Every year millions of us watch or attend some type of sporting event.  Most of us are fans of a particular team or athlete.  We have shirts, bumper stickers and house flags to let others know we are fans and where our loyalty lies.  We listen to sports talk radio, know the Sportscenter Jingle and are fully capable of being a coach.

Being a fan is a roller coaster ride that you can’t control.  Good seasons can turn bad in the blink of an eye, the once prized recuit can’t make it to class, the star free agent has an injury and so on.  When things are good, they’re really good and when things go south they are still pretty good, because change will come in the off season.

That’s why, like a lovestruck phoenix, we return to our teams every year.  Because of what once was will come back again and when it does, next year, we can’t wait to rub Ron’s face in it.  Ron sits beside you at work and his favorite team has owned yours for several years now.  Ron is a jerk.

Our team is only a few pieces away from being a contender, another draft pick, a few free agents.  Maybe the powers that be will finally realize how bad our coach is and get rid of him.  Perhaps while on the recruiting trail for that big time receiver, through serendipity, our team can find a running back that was overlooked before.

The greatest thing about being a fan is that there is almost always next year, even if your team just won the championship!

In my place, the sport fandom is never zeal enough. But, I can imagine how interesting to be a fan, come back every year to cheer your favorite team. Every year there is next year to look forward, full of hopes and expectations. Great share.

I know Ron – I hate that guy. Who would have thought the words would inspire a sport fan tribute. Thanks for playing

Good effort, Rick. Not only do you tie the correct meanings of the challenge word and phrase to your article, you manage to get “Ron” in there; “Ron”, the pain-in-the-side Dodgers fan who has to suffer, now that the Giants took the Series. “Ron” also roots for boo-hiss-Kobe & Co., but I’m afraid the Kings and Warriors, combined, won’t be able to dethrone them.

I’d change this category to Sportales. It would do good there. Nice challenge piece.
