When you hear a scientist telling we never use more than 10% of your brain, he is wrong, plain wrong. By brain power we have yet to reach a conclusion of what brain power is, if it is the power to listen to words, make decisions or to understand words – the fact is – we wish we used ten percent of our brains.

Our brain was made with the same cells of our body, they just became neurons rather than muscle fibers to do their job. To understand this concept a little better you need to read about how a neuron works.

Your body will adapt immediately to any external environment you put it into. If you start riding a bicycle your stamina will improve, so will your lungs capacity and so will your heart and as long as you keep pushing yourself to the limits, your body will go there with you.

The same is true for our brain – we may think we are reaching our limits but neurons constantly improve themselves to deal with the environment – and they never do it so before you put themselves in such environment.

You will never reach your true potential because the brain can adapt itself all the time to become more powerful by growing new neurons, increasing the number of existing connections, strengthening the existing ones with myelin, increasing the number of neuro transmitters – and certainly other things we have yet to learn.

If you try to read Chinese right now – you can’t. However after some days of training you will be able to read basic Chinese – with advanced training you may even have a small conversation. Meanwhile the only magical thing that happened in your head were brain connections.

To keep your brain in true shape, you need to constantly give it the maximum amount of work you think you CANNOT handle. The brain will make connections and figure out how to do that hard job – no matter how impossible IT IS right now.

Being a world class athlete will develop discipline and skills you need to train your brain. Remember your brain still operates on the same minerals, nutrients and everything your body needs as well. You need to feed your brain just like you would feed your body for an all day long ride – a full operating brain will use 50% of your total energy consumption, while using just 2% of the neurons at any give time, and making one million new connections a second, replacing 70% of your connections everyday – yes you have almost a brand new brain every 24 hours.

Go to your favorite search engine and search a little more about brain power – most of all about how the brain works and how neurons work.
