I drove down today and picked up nearly $2.3 Million Dollars. I am rich. I can’t believe it. I am rich.

I got the money! It is mine… It is all mine! Insert evil laugh here. Maybe the root of all evil is money. There is something that makes my feel different when I have this amount of money in my hands. I don’t even have the money. All I have is a check that is nearly as tall as I am. Of course this check was more for show than anything else. It was for the pictures and the public display made to state that I won $74 Million Dollars.

I started my day by showering and getting dressed. I knew I was going to have my photo taken so I made sure I looked somewhat presentable. I didn’t sleep much last night. There was too much going through my mind. There’s something about a large amount of money that can change your life. Change is always a hard thing to handle.

The Lotto building was not as big as I thought it was going to be. I figured an organization who handled that much money on a regular basis was going to be in a building that was huge and elaborate. It wasn’t though. It was in the corner of the fifth floor of an office building I don’t think more than 12 people actually worked there.

They took me in right away. They took my name and drivers license. Then they authenticated the lotto ticket. After a few minutes they congratulated me, letting me know that I was the only winner of this jackpot. They asked me if I wanted the annuity or a one time cash payment. I chose the 20 year annuity. I wanted the security of getting paid every year for the next 20 years. If I took the one time cash payment, I would only get about $39 Million instead of $74 Million. I’m greedy. I want the bigger sum.

There was a small party meant for me. They sat me down and asked me a few questions in front of a few reporters. They wanted to know what I was going to do with the money. They took my photos with that giant check, then they took me into an office and had me fill out some paperwork. They informed me of the amount the government was going to take out of winnings which was about 38%. Then they helped me set up the annuity and wired my first payment of $2.3 Million dollars strait to my bank. They warned me about the banking system an the dangers of having that much money in a bank that only insures each account up to $200,000.

I am sitting in the coffee shop having a small bite to eat. I am about to start the drive home still not quite believing what has just happened to me.

Hehe, it’s a fun thought, isn’t it? I’d take the annuity, too. Otherwise I’d wind up spending it all in the first few months.
