Ad breaks are something we tolerate when watching our favorite shows. But sometimes these ads can be more inventive and entertaining than the main program. Given below are some of the most interesting and memorable ads.

Every time I think of amazing ads, the first ad that comes to my mind is the Frooti (soft drink) ad. This ad came around a decade back (I am just guessing here), and it began with hype. The first ad involved a faceless Digen who was the town favorite. Parents wanted their kids to be like him, girls wanted him and guys wanted to be his friends. In short, he was every-body’s idol. But what was somehow different in this ad was that Digen was not advertising anything here. This was the part where the anticipation was built. After a week, a similar ad was shown but in this the faceless Digen was drinking a Frooti. I have always found this ad captivating. I could not find the first ad, what I found was the third ad which shows everyone drinking Frooti because Digen is drinking it.

The second ad for me will have to be the Surf Excel (detergent) ad. It shows two kids walking home from school and the younger kid, a girl, falls in a puddle. She starts crying and the boy thinks of a way to make her stop crying. He starts beating up the puddle and asks the puddle to apologize. Both the kids have acted well and the ad stands out even after so many years.

The Dhara (cooking oil) ad would be next on my list. It begins with a small boy making his way to the railway station with his bag saying he is fed up of being shouted at at home. When a relative comes by looking for him, he tells the boy that his mother is preparing his favorite sweet (jalebi). There is something incredibly Indian about this ad, it could probably be the sweet used or the way kids have the habit of threatening their parents.

Limca ad featuring Sushma Reddy is another inventive ad. There is no storyline to this one. But the song accompanying the video is pretty good. The ad has the two actors splashing waters at each other. The best time to see this ad is during the summer.

Enjoy watching.
