The number 14?

Have you ever thought about Numbers’s influence in your life? (I’m not advocating Numerology)  Do you know, numbers are integral part of our life? With numbers you count units, measure quantities and numbers, alone, make you Prime Minister of a country or throw you away blah blah. Well, students are very hungry for Numbers.

So, when I examined The Number 14 in my life, I got some interesting facts.

Here you go!

-  My official name has 14 letters. (8 in Muhammad and 6 in Sumair. 8 + 6 = 14)
-  I am 14th grandchild of my Paternal Grandparents. (Excluding their daughters’ children).*

Interestingly,

-  At the time of my birth, I was 14th Grandson of my Paternal Grandparents (including their sons’ and daughters’ children).**

(For relatives only, stop counting and read more   )

-  If I’m not mistaken, I had 14 class-mates when I was in grade 7. (My class-fellow is not agree with me but I’m waiting for others to confirm).

(3 more facts are not being disclosed here. Only my family members, cousins and some of my friends know about those facts)

Well, this Number 14 is everywhere want to know where? Read on…..

- Pakistan came into being on 14th August 1947
- Shirt Number of World’s fastest bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, and
   world’s successful captain, Ricky Pointing,
   is 14.
- In Pakistan, you need to finish 14 years of education (in certain courses) to claim your bachelor’s degree.

And do you know?

-  Intermediate students (Pre-medical and Commerce) take 14 papers (7 in 1st year and 7 in 2nd year) to finish their high school.
-  Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was 14th Prime Minister of Pakistan (30 June 2004 to 20 August 2004)

Muslims know that,

There are 14 Sajdh-e-Tilawat in Holy Quran (According to the Shafi’es and Hanafis. The Hanbalis state that there are 15 sajdas)
14 number of muqatta’at in the Holy Qur’an.
14 number of Infallible (Masoomeen) in Shia Ithna-Asheri Islam.

And,

A fortnight has 14 days (two weeks)
Number of corners and faces in a cube = 8 + 6 = 14

Juliet falls in love with Romeo (age 16), a few days before her 14th birthday
in William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet (1595). Juliet’s mother had been
14 years old at the birth of Juliet.
