Meet the online beast. You know them,I guess.

I enjoyed the presence of Internet and maybe can’t imagine life without it now. I’ve established a circle of friends through it and it keeps me updated with our relatives abroad. In short, I love it. The games, social networking sites, videos and music, I love them all. Beyond this words of affirmation to its existence, it is sad to say that it has something dark to offer. I’m pertaining to the online beasts. It’s the worst thing the Internet could offer. The beasts of immorality. Saying all of this, I wasn’t so sure if same thing happens on other parts of the world. I’ve seen evidences and proofs from our place and I’ll share some of it with you. First and the worst, pornography. Internet has made pornography accessible to every person of every age and what’s so unacceptable is even the elementary kids now are so in with hentai. Second, students mostly from high school are prone to cutting classes due to use of Internet. Third, they ask money from their parents saying it’s for project when it’s actually not. I remember how a mother cried over the lies of her son. After all the work she had done. Then what? All those things for her bastard son? But coming to think of it, they’re just tempted, so please guide them. Fourth, all those scams and deceptions on the net. There are even stalkers who use the Internet to track down your location. Horrific isn’t it? That’s the reality. Fifth, all those poker games for fun? They are infact the first move to seduce you to online gambling. Too much immorality over the Internet. I shouldn’t blame the Internet. Instead, for those who does all those things I’ve mentioned and so much more negative ones, please stop. Are we not moral beings who are supposed to be practicing good?

You and me both. I have been online since 1998 and now I can’t imagine life without it. Of course, it is more important for me living overseas and away from family and friends. It is my life and how I stay informed.

    Nice article my friend.

Great job! There will always be people in the world who will take advantage of the dark side of everything for thier own purpose. In the end, it is your moral compass that will guide you.

I am at one with you.. I just couldn’t live without the internet or my internet friends

    So true!

I like your article. If we could stop just one person from the wrong things here we are going in the right direction. We all have to strive to do what is good.

The Internet is just like life. There are beasts in life and there are beasts on the Internet. The only way to get rid of the beasts is to eliminate life. I don’t think anyone wants to eliminate life. There will always be beasts.

i am afraid the internet is here to stay, love it or hate it, it has grown since i was at school when only a selected few got the chance to go on it, in the future there will be no more postmen it will be all on line banking, emails, etc, so looks like the beast wins again, lol! I do gamble on the free games but i do get bored on them, so i wont get addicted, at the end of it, if you keep winning they want you to play for real money, another reason why i dont bother, its all a con.thanks for sharing.

So true. I don’t think the internet is responsible for immorality, though. It’s just making it easier for those who would do wrong anyway. It has given the scammers and predators more access to their victims. Sad to say…. But technology is here to saty, so it’s best that we educate our children and the naive to the games people play online.

The Internet is a great thing, but it also has its downsides too. You really have to be careful when you use the Internet.

  • Shirley Shuler on Oct 25, 2009

Excellent article, Jane, the internet is a great source of information and also a wonderful way to stay in touch with family and friends, it is just so sad that there are people who would misuse such a great tool.

  • T.Rex McGoogle on Oct 25, 2009

Good write. I’m glad I have no children around that would be vulnerable to the trash available.

  • Eunice Tan on Oct 25, 2009

Nice sharing. We all should be careful in online world.

Since my recent discovery of Triond I have become pretty addicted to the internet. Nice Write.

So true, what can be a boon can also be a devil of a thing too. The internet has perhaps too much to offer. It seems we cannot live with or without it. Liked!!

You are absolutely right. Thanks for elucidating this point Jane.

Interesting and provoking thought. We cannot avoid internet, so what we can do right now is only to limit its bad impact on our children. Great write!

  • deep blue on Oct 27, 2009

Great post. I confess I’d been lured to browse those naked girl sites (after all I’m an artist). But Triond changed all that, so I have taken for granted some painting job to write. Yet once in a while, I don’t have to pay a model to pose naked for me if I’m in the mood to paint, they’re always there and they keep heaven’s gate open. As human beings I supposed we have the creativity to make the most of everything provided to us (positively of course).

  • inuni on Oct 27, 2009

    This was a good read.

I agree with you and that’s a great picture to represent the internet beast!!
