How do you react with the absence of any commercial on television that tells us how to maintain our natural skin tone, be it white, brown or black? Almost 99% of commercials of skin products end up with lines like revealing a whiter or fairer skin on a certain period of continuous application. I haven’t seen a single skin product advertisement intended for black and brown people. For some reason, the influence of media is irrefutably shaping our ways of skin care and maintenance the other way around compelling us to follow the trend they are making.

            It is just that people tend to be affected by these tempting products up to the point that their self esteem becomes affected negatively by settling themselves inferior to those people who have fairer skin tone. The perception by most of us is that having a fair skin is beautiful. Even though there is a saying that tells us beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it is seldom applied to our manner of befriending or judging a person.

            Good thing that there are some famous personalities who were able to stand up and shine despite the fact that they are not white. Their wits, beauty and talents made everybody feel that we are all equally given the fair chance to become popular and beautiful in various ways. The issue of racial discrimination was long over. In fact, the United States of America currently has its very first black president.

            The only beautiful people on earth are those who are willing to accept who they are and those that are able to bring out the best that they have without being degraded by the hide we are wearing. There’s no harm of aiming for improvement but just be sure that you are not changing the ways how our Creator has made us because above all, it is He who knows what’s best for us and the very reason of our existence. Everybody is equal on His eyes.
