Things are not always what they seem to be.

Never take things at face value or first impression as some people have a way of portraying themselves as something better or more attractive than they really are.

The art of disguise is rife amongst all things.

The Chameleon is a master at blending in, changing colour at will.

The stick insect becomes almost invisible mimicking his surroundings.

While many birds eggs are coloured to blend in, some looking like stones and so are laid on small pebbles.

So it is with make-up, some woman can transform themselves with a flick of a brush and a application of make-up.

Take the film industry, actors can be made-up to look totally different once the skill of the make-up artist takes control.

The art of disguise can be used as a good thing or to deceive therefore if you take people as you find them looking deeper into their mind and nature, you will have a better chance at seeing the true person.

People are much deeper, than they seem, once you get to know them, so take time to see the real person, who knows you might even find the real you as well.

I believe that beauty is just for the eyes to see. Nothing more. Me? I see a person for his soul. Ugly or not if she has this agreeable spirit she will be always beautiful to me.

As for being a chameleon, we all have reasons in doing so. Some good thoughts. Thanks.

Very good advice. I try to take time to get to know someone before making any judgement. Unfortunately so many young people in particular are taken in by fashion models and the airbrushing which is done to their photos. They can ruin their lives trying to look like them.

C’mon. You wouldn’t want any of us to look like we do in the mirror when we first get up. Just kidding. Often, a smile can be a form of disguise.

Excellent piece, you can never really know someone in just a day. Take your time and pull all the weed out of the midst of the flowers, great post Johnny.

Very true. There is always more than meets the eye.

It takes time to know people and many of us don’t put in the time or don’t have the time to put in.

Great writing with a lot of truth in it. Well done and many might learn from it. Reminds me of the song “Can You See The Real Me”. I thought it was originally from The Who, but I know WASP covered it as well.

A very meaningful and deep post. You make some very good points. With a flick of a brush, some people can transform themselves. And sometimes even with makeup they are still ugly. LOL. People judge others too quickly without even giving them a chance to find out what they are all about. As for disguises, you have to put up a front to protect yourself. Then as you get to know someone little by little you can start being yourself. And even then, there will be those who don’t like you for who you are. So what if they don’t.

I agree, Johnny. You make some good points and as the old saying goes, you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover.

How great to make your acquaintance, Johnny. It was Val who introduced me to Triond. It’s fantastic.

Love this article. Seeing yours and others’ articles through this medium inspires me to write more. What a gift it is.

Looking forward to meeting more writers as I learn the ropes.

People are not always what we see them to be. Just give them a chance. Nice write. Thanks.

    so so true!
Make covers people up its something people can hide behind but when that make up comes off they then reveal their true self.
Magazines have a lot to answer for, cos people follow them and want to look and be like the stars but they are just airbrushed and no one knows the real them only their friends and family!
