By Debbie Macomber.

I have just finished reading this book. It was absolutely wonderful!!
It begins with Lydia Hoffman who opens a shop called A Good Yarn on Blossom Street. She starts up a knitting class in the back of the shop.
Three ladies; Jacqueline Donovan, Carol Girard and Alix Townsend attend Lydia’s knitting class every Friday afternoon. These women have very different lives.
Jacqueline is upset to discover that her only son Paul has secretly married a southerner, Tammy Lee, whose six months pregnant. Not to mention that Tammy Lee is not from Jacqueline’s social circle. Plus Jacqueline is estranged from her husband Reese, even though they still share the same house.
Carol Girard is happily married to Doug and is desperate to conceive a baby through IVF. Despite IVF failing her and Doug three times already, they have only enough money for one more chance. On noticing A Good Yarn’s knitting class project ‘knitting a baby blanket,’ her hopes are enhanced.
Alix Townsend works at the video store across the street. She lives with her room-mate Laurel in an apartment building very run-down and basic. She has had a problematic childhood and is quite unhappy with herself.
The characters are brilliant. I became so overwhelmed by their troubles and felt so deeply for them I cried. It was a such a sweet and soothing story.
I will definitely recommend The Shop on Blossom Street. I give it 100%
