Things to do when one is retired…it is a time to be productive and a time to be enjoyed at the same time.
It had to happen sometime. After thirty full years or so of working, you are hit with the reality that you are retiring. It is a company policy and you just have to go along with it.
Okay,so you are getting old. This might hurt your ego a bit.You then start thinking that you will be missing going to the office everyday, miss your office mates, your working desk, maybe even your boss. You will be missing most of all, that adrenalin rush in you whenever you had to do a quick fix on a rush job and attending those never-ending problem solving meetings at the office.
That said, you just have to face reality. Now you have all the time in your hands. All you need to do is make use of it and do some good planning on how to go about it.
Now you have more time for the family.Bond with them by having picnics and walks in the park.If you have the budget, go for a vacation in a resort somewhere.Have a second honeymoon with your wife, and she’ll appreciate that.
Learn a new hobby like painting or photography.Learn to play golf or tennis. It’s fun and good exercise, too. You can do spring cleaning and arrange your things..you may have to give away some or you’ll find out you have more for a garage sale. That’s a profitable way to clean out your space, too!
If you’re a grandparent, wouldn’t it be nice to babysit your grandchildren? Teach them a magic trick, read books or just play around and laugh with them. Enjoy feeling young as a kid once more.
You can go back to school..it’s not too late to do so.You can take a short course about computers or take an English writing class. You keep your mind active and you get to learn about the new technology around you.
Most of all. look forward to your retirement as a new phase in your life. You start slow at first, but then you just get the hang of it.Just relax and enjoy. If you do, you will enjoy a happy, contented and full life ahead of you.
