There’s Little Bright Side for Yankees in Ugly Loss.
The Yankees were trailing by eight runs in the fourth inning Thursday night when they called in a 31-year-old reliever to make his major league debut. As the pitcher, Amaury Sanit, warmed up, the scoreboard operators at Yankee Stadium played “Mr. Brightside” by the Killers.

Surely there are worse things than losing two of three games to theKansas City Royals, who rode a six-run second inning to roll to an 11-5 victory. The Yankees, though, would be hard-pressed to sift through the remnants of another sloppy loss and identify anything more positive than the relief work provided by Sanit, who replaced an ineffective Ivan Nova and pitched four and two-thirds innings to save their bullpen. There was not much else to choose from.
