How did a thimble end up in a field?
I haven’t long got back from a trip, where I carried out some metal detecting. One day, whilst metal detecting on a piece of farmland in England, I found a thimble. It is an open-top one, and may date to the Tudor period. How did it end up in that field? It was found close to a “farmhouse”, which has part of it dating back at least 500 years (this part of today’s farmhouse is believed to have originally been a barn).

The thimble is quite chunky and may have been used by a man, but I don’t know!

It would be lovely to meet the person who lost it. One day, I may be able to. I suppose it depends on whether you believe in life after death, time travel and psychics etc. But I sure would love to visit this piece of land, at the time the thimble was lost, and maybe even go for a pint with the person who “lost” the thimble!
