I don’t like looking back, it makes me sad, but every now and then on occasion, I find myself looking back.

The old Restaurant around the corner

The center city Department store

The corner Drug store

The old Book store on the avenue

The Bakery three blocks over

The neighborhood Deli

The Candy store on the way home from school

The Shoe shop, the Movie theater, and the smiling faces behind the counters, all these were wonderful things from my youth, things that are not there anymore.  If I could turn back the clock, I would never take for granted, the things I thought would be there forever.

A lot of things are gone and that’s really sad.

It makes me sad, but I find myself looking back much too often.

I know what you mean, Shirley. A lot of places from my youth are no longer there. Places change. This piece makes me nostalgic. Are those pictures of your hometown?

It’s sad, I remember so many things that are gone forever. It’s best not to dwell on it.
