Do you feel as though life around you has changed for the better? For the worse? Have you asked yourself that question? Does it matter? Are we only worried about an economy? What about the value of people?
It seems to me we are becoming more and more disconnected with an inner core value of human kind. Now from what I’ve learned in the Gym is that I need a “Strong Core”. The core of the body holds most of the weight for balance, lifting, and everyday usage. What about the core of a country? What is it we stand for now? What are your personal values? We used to stand for the Pledge, but according to the news report today Michael Newdow is still trying to rid the classroom of this long STANDing tradition that is an oath of loyalty. What do those words mean today? Oath? Loyalty? How do we protect the fundamentals that the United States was founded on when we are able to pick and choose what works for us from the First amendment? Or worse, how we can use the First Amendment to tear apart the “core” of a country. Is God really that bad of a word Michael? I know a large percentage of Americans, (the people who live here besides you!) believe in the creator. Why is it we sit and let the Michael Newdow’s of the world water down our beliefs and traditions. Why do we glorify this behavior with media coverage? What do our 50 states collectively stand for? Why can’t we just ship him to a country where he wouldn’t be able to stand up against his government?
Do you get that what he’s fighting for and what I’m implying is an Oxymoron? The very thing he is fighting against is the very thing that’s allowing him to fight. Freedom. Shouldn’t we be free to fight for it? Does a silent majority rule, ever? Why does it seem the wrong always wins? It’s because many stay quiet. I know as a parent, I have concern that I’m raising my children in the land of nothingness. Where are the days when we worked not only for a paycheck, but for pride to provide for our family? I’m missing the days where kids were safe to play outside, the little corner grocery store, family shows that were funny, The only family show that comes to mind is 2 and a half men. I miss life without the Internet, calling a business and getting a real live person, responsibility as role models, fishing with my Grandpa, that ones personal. I Miss Ice cream after swimming, hand me down clothes, church socials, and a smiling face. I don’t see enough people smiling anymore. As I drive in traffic or walk in a grocery store, gas station. I’m often met with a blank stare, or worse an insincere half smile.
