A fun list of boredom busters.
We all know the feeling. Stuck at home or work with nothing to do and a mind full of mush with no ideas. This guide will give you ten things to pass the minutes and push through your boredom!
10. Annoy someone else
Nothing passes the time like seeing somebody elses misfortune. Try throwing small scrunched up bits of paper over your cubicle at a co-worker and then suddenly looking away, or maybe just hum loudly until they can’t stand it, whatever it is, it’s sure to make time fly!
9. Set a challenge
Whip out the timer on your cell phone and see how long you can last in various extreme challenges within the confines of your boring setting. Seeing how long you can hold your breath is a classic, but get a bit more creative, how long can you go without blinking, or how fast can you click your mouse one-hundred times. Imagination is key when you’re bored!
8. Play a flash game
The net is full of aimless time wasters sure to chew away at the hours when you could be doing something productive. You could kill countless stickmen in assorted ways, or even play an RPG (Role Playing Game); sure to cure boredom now and well into the future.
7. Socialise
Get on Facebook or some other social network and strike up a conversation with someone you haven’t talked to in a while, or maybe a family member you don’t see often. You will be refreshed by what they say, and they might even give you some more interesting ideas to kick your boredom!
6. Daydream
Fantasize about the future, focus on nothing else and let your mind wonder. Where will you be in ten years? What will you’re family be like? It’s amazing how far ahead of yourself you can get when you try this, and it’s sure to strip you of a couple of minutes of boredom, even more!
5. Prank call a friend
Call up a friend and try to order a pizza in some ridiculous foreign accent, or maybe ask if you can speak to Hugh Jass or C. Senor. It’ll give you a laugh, and it might even brighten up you’re friend’s day.
4. Learn something
When you focus your mind on something it’s amazing how fast time flies by. Maybe you could learn how to count to ten or say hello in a whole bunch of different languages, or try to memorise all the presidents of the United States. Whatever you learn it will pass the time and it might make a cool party trick later on.
3. Googlewhack!
Do a Google search consisting of two words that only returns one result. This can be impressively difficult, but not impossible. It can kill a good few hours trying to narrow down your numbers, and the sense of satisfaction at the end only adds to the fact that you have just wasted a whole heap of time.
2. Wikipedia Rome game
A play on the old phrase “All roads lead to Rome”. Click the “Random Article” button on Wikipedia, and see if you can navigate to the article to Rome using only links from articles. It can be suprisingly easy, as long as you pick the right links. Make it harder by seeing how few clicks you can do it in.
1. Write your own list!
Writing this sure got rid of my boredom. Once you’re done trying some of these, come up with a list of fun stuff you know of, and help others get rid of their boredom too!
