This is part two of a day I took God’s job. I decided I didn’t want it!
I more I thought about all of this and the more I tried to see things differently, the more confusing it became. There were just too many conflicting interest, too many contradictory issues. For one (I wish not to start a discussion here), I lean more toward the big bang theory than that of creationism. Aside from that, no one can claim to be God although we attribute that characteristic to many. “Oh he thinks he’s god!”, or “He/she thinks their Gods gift to …” You get the picture. All things considered, I just don’t think I or any of us can achieve the objectivity necessary to see the big picture. It didn’t take long for me to give up this whole notion of playing god, but as I always do when I start something, my thoughts lingered upon the idea.
It was several hours later that I was walking past a large shopping center when I heard someone yell, “Hey you… wait up! I want to talk to you.” I turned to see a guy approaching at a quick stride. I thought that maybe he was one of the homeless guys I’d seen around on the corners “flying their signs” and probably wanted to hit me for some change.
“Who me?” I asked while looking around. The closest others were two pretty, teen-aged cheerleader types prancing across the parking lot swinging shopping bags heading toward a late model S.U.V. Laughing and giggling toward each other they didn’t seem to be paying us any attention.
“Yeah you see anybody else?” the stranger said. Well yeah I thought.
“No. Do I know you?” I answered.
“Yeah… sure you do.” he chuckled as though I’d said something funny.
“Yeah? What’s your name?” I asked.
“Fred.”
