Tutoring is very rewarding.
As a Tutor I found it to be very rewarding. It is strange how this things occur. I was at school at the end of a senior class and I was enthralled at how one of my Teacher’s taught English and from this I started Tutoring through a local newspaper advertisement contract. I would later start a business in a writing discipline with a friend as well. First things first, I happened to see an advertisement for Tutors in most subjects. I contacted them and was accepted over the phone. They sent me out to the first student and we got along well where I introduced stories to read as well as comprehension exercises. I also ran an advert as I said earlier and attained another student who was a female year 12 student. They were both at different levels as you could imagine.
The first student was a Chinese young man and the family had a fashion business. The family was very inviting and there was a young girl that was a happy child, the student would sing throughout the house when not doing exercises with me. This lasted for a couple of months then I was told the lessons had to stop now because they had some trouble which was disappointing as the student was making very good progress.
I received a call from another student and this was the female year 12 student. I got to the house and I met the student and her Mother, she had a brother who I did not formerly meet but was clearly very protective of his younger sister with his heavy foot steps pacing up and down. I would glance disagreeably at his movements but what else can you do after all it is there home and I respected the Mother above all. She would be present as she listened intently of the advice and instruction I gave her daughter. I would give 2 hour lessons as I would go through there class work and home work. I had found her work to be below I would expect of this standard. I told her to write a further three drafts of an essay and to pay attention to my corrections and edit instructions as I found a busy red pen crossing out entire sentences and reversing words to attain concise meaning to the topic.
