How some things can go too far..

Over the years, along with the internet, came many ways for beings to express themselves with a group having similar interests. Blogs, discussions, stories, etc.. Whatever you’re interested, may it be politics, pop culture, music, dating, there are thousands of places on the internet just for you. Yet, many things that aren’t necessarily…appropriate…Seep into the crevices of the web.
Sex, porn, ads supporting sex/condoms.
Although mildly restricted at points to a certain age group, there is always a way or two around these barriers. And the internet is NOT an exception. Children and teens alike are always tempted to investigate things they know they shouldn’t, or experience unnecessary thrills. Which is all well and good… But can it be taken too far?

Does a bear crap in the woods?
A very recent example would be Twilight Fan-fiction. While the books were enormously popular (written by Stephanie Meyer), the first movie was released on November 21, 2008. Mostly consisting of pre-pubescent girls, the fan-base was still at a vast amount. World-wide, the first movie alone made $380 million opening weekend. Whether one would enjoy the story, the plot, or the characters…One thing’s for sure.
The girls can’t get enough of “Edward Cullen” and “Jacob Black.” (The 2 male leading roles in the movie).
So of course, the site of these men would entice a young girl’s imagination. These were brought upon in images, stories, fictional stories, fan sites, etc… The demand for a fan-fiction site became intense, and finally…A thread was born! How wonderful! Children, teens, and adults alike can now express their love for the characters through any method they like. All thanks to this thread!

Free expression is a great tool for humans to use in order to release emotions, secrets, and fantasies. There are many clean, harmless stories on the site. Some suitable for children, some mildly sexual, and some just plain raunchy. This isn’t only for Twilight, but for the world in general. However… A few Twilight fans might be a little obsessed of their male dream-boats.

Sexual harrassment is not a laughing matter. Nor is stauatory rape. But these girls can’t get enough of it when it comes to Edward and Jacob! Story after story…Full of pure disregard for a female’s voice in sexual acts. At Comic Con, the Twilight cast stopped by for an interview. When a mother, and fellow Twilight fan was asked her thoughts on the matter, she replied, “If it’s Rob, it’s okay.”

Basically, knowing her child could never act upon the matter as Robert Pattinson (the man who plays Edward in “Twilight”) is a celebrity, it is perfectly reasonable for her to type such horrid things. I think this should be a little heads-up about your kid, lady. I’m not saying it makes them a bad person or mentally ill, but maybe you need to keep a closer eye on them. Twilight fans, draw the line. Some things are best kept to yourself.. -.-
