Just some thoughts which cross my mind during two in the morning.
It’s 2 A.M. and my head is buzzing. I know I should be sleeping, given by the fact that I have already set my alarm to ring annoyingly in about seven hours. However, an overpowering feeling is keeping me awake. What is this overpowering feeling one may inquire- what could possibly keep me from my much needed rest? Adrenaline? Enthusiasm? Some other force unknown to mankind?
None of the above. It is simply due to a a single trait which has plagued mankind for ages. Stubbornness. I am so stubborn that I refuse to go to sleep. Sure, I will probably pass out sometime later. Maybe even a few seconds from now. However, that is an issue which I will deal with when I do pass out.
It’s quite amazing to just sit there and think about various facts while you’re about to pass out. Thoughts such as…”What’s for breakfast?” or “I wonder what’s happening on the other side of the world?” may entertain your half-dead brain at this point. Sometimes inspirational thoughts may pop up, such as an idea for new world order, or even a substitute for gasoline, to absolve our shortages. Who knows?
Then your focus shifts to that feeling inside your head. The one where it feels as if the pressure will explode outward and cause an inevitable demise of the poor sap in that room- you. It’s…a deep pain, one which makes you feel like throwing up, but at the same time, one which makes you feel human. Because you are tired, and because you need to rest, and peacefully pass into the dream world for a few hours each day, you can acknowledge your human side. Well, your animal side.
Fatigue. What an interesting feeling. We don’t appreciate the fact that it is there to remind us that we are using up our energy and a rest is needed. Right now, mental fatigue is more of a threat than physical.
Well, it’s still 2 A.M. and that bed looks pretty comfortable. I wonder what tomorrow will bring? Don’t you?
