He was young, hungry and homeless. John was 19 and ever since his 13th birthday he has had the worst luck.
On the morning of his 13th birthday John tripped over and smashed his face in to a mirror after running under the ladder his dad was using to paint the house. John’s face was messed up, he had hundreds of cuts and bits of glass all over his face, and he also broke his jaw in 2 places.
From that day on John’s life has not been the same. When he was 15 both his parents died in a horrific car crash on the way to pick him up from school. On his 17th birthday all his friends and what was left of his family died when the building they were all in waiting for John to arrive burnt down.
He was alone and had no family and friends. Every time he met someone they would in some way or another drop dead in front of him. John was constantly in and out of hospital because he was always getting heart. He had no home or money every night he sleeps in the park just across the road from where his house use to be or in the hospital suffering from some sort of disease or injury.
One morning when he was walking from bin to bin trying to find some breakfasts, he saw something sparkle to the left of a tall gum tree. At first he didn’t think much of it until he saw it again. He walked curiously over to wards it, looking around for any dangers that could curse him harm. He bent over and piked up two golden dice with what looked like small diamonds which told you the number on each face. They where heavier then any normal dice and did not feel like plastic so he could only come to the conclusion that it was real gold and diamonds.
He clenched his fists and stuck it in his pocket. Quickly he walked away looking around for anyone who may own them or might want to take them from him. He couldn’t believe it, was it just some decorative metal dice, or was it really gold with small diamonds on it? Either way he was expecting something bad to come of them.
For the next couple of days it seamed like his luck had changed. People were giving him food, money and he was even offered a place to sleep. At first he could not finger out why these things where happening to him until he remembered the dice that he had in his pocket. He had almost forgotten about them and realised that good things started almost as soon as he found them.
Within a month he had won an apartment from a competition on the radio. He had also found a job at a small fast food restraint, it didn’t pay much but it was a job. John never went anywhere without what he called his two lucky cubes. They were his pride and joy, the corse of all his good luck.
Years past, and John’s life was Great. The fast food restaurant that he was working at had turned into a very successful fast food chain. John was the district manager of all the restraints in his area. He was living in a huge house near the ocean with more rooms than he knew what to do with.
At age 28 he was almost ready to retire when one morning he woke up to the smell of think choking smoke. It was like someone had their hands around his neck choking the life out of him. He looked around for his dice but they where know where to be found. He knew at that moment that his life was about to turned for the worse.
