I thought the end of the world was coming?
Well March 19 has come and gone yet we all seem to be here still. No end of the world in sight.
During that night I indeed looked up to see the moon there, full and larger than normal. It looked nice, I have to admit. But I didn’t see any incoming end of the world or apocalypse, horsemen ready to decapitate me or tsunamis the size of skyscrapers. Not that I was expecting it, but, I would have liked to have seen at least some action. Maybe a few lightning storms? Something different? I’m not saying that I would have liked to have seen more people injured but a little bit of action wouldn’t have gone amiss.
But it was not to be, another apocalypse averted. I did take the chance on this occasion to sit out there with my telescope looking at the moons surface and the stars for a while. It was a very clear night so I got some great views.
Do those of you who believed the lunar perigee would end the world feel stupid now? No I expect you probably don’t, it will not affect you in any way. You will just retreat back to where you came from to think of the next apocalyptic rumour.
Don’t worry about it, 2012 is getting closer. How many more people have you managed to convince that the end of the world is near? Got them panicking about the upcoming apocalypses?
Well I hope it makes you feel good about yourself, creating rumours. I for one will enjoy preparing for Christmas on December 21 without having to worry about the end of the world. I suggest you do the same. Nobody knows when they are going to die (except those that are terminally ill, and even they don’t know the exact date). therefore the best thing is to simply enjoy life like every day is your last so that when your time does come you won’t have any regrets. The is no evidence for these apocalypse rumours so you shouldn’t spend all your time worrying.
