Waiting and its effects.

Waiting for anything at all is tedious, time consuming, boring and nerve wracking. We tend to wait on line in a store, at waiting area in a car dealership, on a line at school, food to get done, a baby to be born, and the results of something.

Our stomachs become tied in a knot and our nerves become on edge. Everything seems to bother us. The littlest things seem to make us want to scream when we are waiting.

The worst of the waiting is when we are waiting for medical results that can decide whether we are okay or something horrible is about to happen. The even worst waiting is when doctors are trying to determine what is wrong with you and they don’t seem to know. All of the blood results are clear, the x-rays don’t show anything and the MRI’s seem to show nothing is wrong but clearly something is wrong. The doctors know there is something obviously wrong but they don’t seem to know what is so they make you wait and wait.

Appointment after appointment and test after test, everything seems to be okay but there is obviously something wrong. So you continue waiting and now your family begins questioning the doctor’s decisions and diagnosis. Your nerves are already a mess and now the family gets involved and makes things that much worse.

Yet the waiting continues until the doctors realize they need to do exploratory surgery to finally determine the cause of your illness and instead of informing you in the office, they leave a message on your answering machine at home. You haven’t explained anything yet to your family because you weren’t aware of the surgery until you heard the message and now the family looks at you like you were hiding something.

Now you begin to wait more so they can schedule the surgery. You begin to assume the worse and pray for the best results. You make preparations at home to assure everything will go smoothly with your family. Still the waiting has you nervous.

Waiting, Waiting and more waiting when will the waiting end?
