See how walking betrays our identity.
The way goes a man has specific characteristics so that it can be used to identify the person, say British researchers at the University of Southampton. They already are testing the feasibility of using this method in criminology.
The researchers used a multi-biometric tunnel, equipped with 12 cameras and software to perform three-dimensional images that highlight specific features of walking, in the case of 25 persons. Using this technique, people could be identified with an accuracy of 95%.
Experts believe that the method can be various applications: it can be used, for example in airports to identify suspicious persons, or in case of robberies, analyzing the images recorded by surveillance cameras, though the attackers wore masks and gloves.
Which could impede the accuracy of the method, scientists say, would be extreme changes in dress, which would alter the specific biometric movements recorded by cameras.
